Q Do you offer gift certificates?
A Of course! What a stressless way to truly take care of those on your gift list. And you can order online in about 5 minutes. (Maybe you should buy one for yourself!)

Q How do I request an appointment?
A Just call 804-732-1234 or click here to request an appointment. Join our mailing list and get specials and discounts sent directly to your mail box.

Q How do I get to Utopia Spa? And where can I park?
A Our physical address is 115 N. Sycamore Street, Petersburg, Virginia.

• Coming from the North on I-95 S, take exit 52, Washington St./Wythe St., and exit onto Washington St.
• Turn right on to Sycamore Street.(You’ll see a big old brick building on the corner with beautiful arch top windows)
• Take your first right, at the light, which is Franklin St.
• Turn left on to Monroe St. and you’ll see a parking lot on the left.
• Coming from the South on I-95 N, take the Crater Road / US-460E / Wythe Street / Washington Street exit (Exit 50-ABCD)
• Keep left at each fork on the ramp until you see Washington Street sign.
• Bear right at the fork.
• Turn left onto Washington Street.
• Turn right on to Sycamore Street.(You’ll see a big old brick building on the corner with beautiful arch top windows)
• Take your first right, at the light, which is Franklin St.
• Turn left on to Monroe St. and you’ll see a parking lot on the left.

This parking lot is behind our building, but the easiest place to park. There are four parking spaces, in the reserved parking, (The row that faces Monroe St.) with the cement “stop” painted bright pinkish purple and signs noting "Utopia Spa Parking". You can park there, or in any unreserved, public spot available. You’ll see “Dalton’s Jewelers” on the back of our building. Follow the breezeway next to it to the street. When you reach the sidewalk, turn left, and you will be standing in front of the Utopia Spa!

Q How do I know if my Therapist or Technician is licensed or certified?
A You can wait until you get to the Salon or Spa and ask the receptionist to see a copy of the Therapist/Tech’s paperwork. Or, you can check for yourself. You will need to know the full name of the person you will be working with and the correct spelling. The rest is easy!

For Massage Therapists you can go to the Virginia Board of Nursing website, www.dhp.virginia.gov/nursing/ and do a “license lookup” for “certified massage therapist”.

To check on a Cosmetologist, Nail Technician, Wax Technician or Esthetician, go to the Virginia Board for Barbers and Cosmetologists, www.dpor.virginia.gov/dporweb/bnc_main.cfm and do a “license lookup” under the proper category. Do remember… sometimes these web sites are not updated as often as they should be, but this is an excellent place to start.

When in question, you should call the Automated License Verification System, 804.270.6836 for Massage Therapists, or 804.367.8509 for the Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists.

Q What about my comfort?
A This is your time, and we want you to enjoy it to the fullest! Whether it’s the room temperature, the treatment, the massage pressure, or the volume of the music, please inform your service provider. We will do whatever is within our means to make you comfortable.

Q When should I eat or drink?
A It’s best not to eat for at least an hour before a massage or body treatment, and to avoid the consumption of alcohol on the day of any treatment. Body work helps release toxins from your muscles. Please be sure to drink plenty of water before and especially after your treatment to flush them from your body.

Q Can I get a massage if I’m pregnant?
A Yes, after you are safely out of your first trimester. Please advise the Receptionist when you are booking your appointment, and discuss your pregnancy with your Therapist during your consultation. Utopia Spa Loves Mommies!!! We even give you a discount on your massage!

Q Is there somewhere to hang my clothes?
A Yes, each service room has hangers and hooks on the back of their doors. Some rooms have hooks and/or holders for your jewelry, or you can hang your jewelry on the door hooks with your clothing.

Q Is it customary to give a gratuity to my service provider?
A As with any other customer service, gratuities are greatly appreciated. The amount should be based on the degree of service with which you were provided. 15-20% is customary, but can be more or less at your discretion.

Q Can I keep my underwear on?
A We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so you can wear underwear if you want to, or you will be offered disposable panties for the massage and/or body treatment.

We offer styles of massage like Thai Massage where you stay fully clothed.

Q Oh, no! I have to cancel/reschedule my appointment.
A 24 hours notice of cancellation of services is required or you will be charged half the price of missed session, and, if you don’t cancel appointment and don’t show up at all, you will be charged 100% of the fee for missed session. Also, if you are late, our services will be performed as well as possible in the remaining allotted time of appointment.
